Another project in the pile: The children's Thonet chairs have been upholstered by someone in the past, but the old fabric has worn out through use, so we decided that Mark should recane the seats and I'd make some tapestry cushions to sit on top.
As all this was happening Solomon was making some great abstract drawings. To make the project feel complete I've made two collages from a selection of drawings. I've now made a tracing over the top, and through a conversation with dad we've decided the best way to proceed is to find some embroiderers soluble stabiliser which I can put the image on and iron it onto the hessian to stitch the design through.
I stitched in some loops to the top of the first slipper. I wiil knit into these stitches to make a sock at the ankle. Inspired by Tina Marrin knitted shoes. Google her, she's all over the web and I can't figure out how to post a link to this increasingly irritating blog format.
